Radio Amateur Society of Thailand will be hosting SEANET 2007 from 7th to 11 NOV 2007 in Lampang , Northern Thailand. I dont know where you get your info that some local station wants to organise it in Malaysia in 2007. Just folk tales.
For SEANET 2008 Borneo Amateur Radio Club will be organising it. From my sources ORARI wants to have it in Bali,Indonesia in 2009.
If that local station wants to do it maybe he/she should consider for year 2010

I am confused, puzzled, pening,and
think someone is joking or ignorant about seanet which was started in Penang in 1971.
The members of this group who are still around are 9m2cg, 9m2fk and Leong (Ex 9m2fz)Mr Leong surrendered his licence after he got fed up with infighting in MARTS.(In my opinion that was bad decision. Marah nyamok , kelambu dibakar)

Ahem! dear all, I think you all read it with negative thoughts in your mind. I can't help but to chip in here. What I read on the Seanet announcement is that 'those who are interested to know more about Seanet there is a station (which I trust it is a 9M station) hosting, Present participle-used in continuous tenses, foreign station. "Hosting" taken from Oxford dictionary > meaning to show, to entertain. The post is put with good intention but it is shameful to those who shot it down without even trying to understand the context of the Seanet posting. What is wrong with you guys, shame on you to put down on another fella Ham who is trying to get others learning about Seanet. Please be a bit sensible and behave like adults rather than finding faults at others . Don't you see the note "For a detail description of the event, click here." With this> click here, off course he knows what he's doing.
Somebody asked the moderator to explain what is local seanet activity and host foreign station.
The moderator did not come with any explanations instead you are giving your unsolicited comments. Are you trying to be smart.Since 1971 how many SEANET conventions have you or the moderator attended. ? If none, keep your gap shut.

Indeed , the moderator was asked to clarify what was posted. As mentioned in the 'Seanet activity' posting, I have not receive confirmation of the agenda nor its activity. If you would be kind to exercise some patiences, i will certainly keep all Ham-ers posted.

SEANET was established in 1964 on 20m.at 12.00hrs GMT and it never had a permannt Secretariat. After many years they decide to have an eyeball QSO for SEANET members.The pioneers consist of 17 hams and swl and started in December 1971 in Penang.

From past experiences, Malaysian hams (Locals)do not participate in contests. The japanese and kwai low will take part using their 9M callsigns.Don t expect too much from 9m for contests.
9M2FK was at one time the contect manager for Seanet, so he can verify.

It is your duty to expose such characters.Years ago Malaysian hams are well known for their discipline but it is deterioting now.Unless things are changed, strong action taken we will become like Indonesia where rules cannot be enforced anymore... too many violators.

Wondering why 9Ms are not interested in CQ contest when this contest is design for morse code .. Why is our 9M shying away from a contest meant for them?
9M is a dying breed. The rate of passing off is greater than number of people getting 9m callsign. If fact today , I received a call from a friend informing that Avatar Singh 9M2AV passed away in PJ> Avatar was at one time active in the MARTS Council. He was Secretary , committee member and Editor.He is a jovial person and get along well with everybody.He always sing a particular song when he is a bit on the high side.

Back to the issue of contest. It ia all a matter of personal choice.
Some like to talk only others like CW and the digital modes.Some like to buy equipment and anttenas and others will build them.So not all of us like contest.Contests have many categories.Phone only, CW or digital .In a contest you not only contact the other stations.. you have to prepare the contest log. Get the multipliers and total up the points earned and send the to the contest manager concerned. It takes a bit of time to prepare all these things.Knowing Malaysians... we are lazy for those things.
So contest is not everyone's cup of tea.Some drink coffe, milo and horlicks.
